The EPA's annual toxic release report showed that nearly 60 million pounds of toxic chemicals were released into the air, water and land through out Montana.

EPA's data also showed that toxic chemical releases decreased 12% from 2011 to 2012 across the US.

They say close to 20,000 facilities across the nation are required to report their use and emission of toxic chemicals each year, and in Montana, more than 56 companies report that data to the EPA. These facilities must also report the use of 650 different toxic chemicals.
