Senior Standout: CMR's Isiah Yates

Posted: Updated:

If there's anyone on the CMR Wrestling team that represents the results of hard work, it's Isiah Yates.

In the first year he ever wrestled, Isiah only had one win. Now, he's one of the Rustler's most fearsome grapplers.

"So to see where he was then to where he is now is pretty amazing. It's all just through hard work and a desire to get better," CMR head coach Aaron Jensen says.

Behind his work ethic and leadership is a "jokester" type of personality, something that the team needs in the locker room

"When you're working hard things tend to get tense and up tight and he's really light hearted and it really relaxed the group," Jensen adds.

"Besides wrestling, he's kind of a big brother to everyone on the team and he motivates everyone," says fellow Rustler wrestler Chase Marmon.

Isiah may has grown beyond measure during his four years at CMR, but UGF Argos head wrestling coach Caleb Schaeffer thinks he can do better. He sees raw talent in Isiah, and the young Rustler is excited to begin his career next year at UGF.

"I thought it was a great program. I really wanted to wrestle at the college level. After my sophomore year I really stuck to it. I felt like Great Falls would be a great program and that's why I chose it," Yates says.

If Isiah is the product of four years of hard work at CMR, imagine the wrestler he will become for the Argos after another four years.
