CHIP Reauthorization Act Celebrates 5 Years

Posted: Updated:

The Children's Health Insurance Program, or CHIP Reauthorization Act is celebrating its fifth year of service.

In Montana, it's called the Healthy Montana Kids Program and was launched back in October 2009.  This also lumps into children's Medicaid.  According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, there are four million more children insured in Medicaid or CHIP since CHIP was reauthorized by the president in 2009. About 100,000 kids are signed up for the Health Montana Kids Program according to the Department of Health and Human Services.
