Top Lawmakers Praise Senator Max Baucus

Senator Max Baucushas been in office for the last 40 years leaving quite a legacy. Now, praisefor the senator is coming from all of Montana's top political figures including Senator Jon Tester.

"Max, it has been an honorto serve with you. It's an honor to call you my friend. And the senate will bea lesser body without you. I wish you Godspeed and good luck," says Tester.

Fond words from a fellow Montana Democratic senator as Max Baucus assumes the new title of Ambassador to China.

Senator Baucus saying, "The U.S.-Chinarelationship is one of the most important bilateral relationships in the world.It will shape global affairs for generations. We must get it right."

Max Baucus was first elected to the house in 1974and went on to serve six terms in the U.S. Senate. He's most known for helpingto craft six farm Bills, three highway bills, playing a key role in passinghealth care reform legislation, and securing the first-ever federallydeclared public health emergency for the asbestos issues in Libby.

Senator Baucus says, "Now, as I face my own crossroads, I'm humbled to have the opportunity to follow in his footsteps."

The water park was evacuated while crews worked to put the flames out.

    UPDATE: A Spokane County judge has sentenced Clay Starbuck to life in prison without the possibility of parole for torturing and killing his ex-wife. The 48-year-old Deer Park man was convicted by a jury last month and sentenced on Thursday.
