Ambassador Baucus Reacts to the Farm Bill Passing

Posted: Updated:

Just this past week the Farm Bill flew through the House and Senate with President Obama signing the bill on Friday. Former long time senator turned Ambassador to China, Max Baucus was one of the biggest supporters of the Farm Bill and has spent much of the last year touring Montana to get an understanding of what Montana farmers really need. And Baucus leaves for China having passed his sixth Farm Bill.

"I'm very pleased, it took a lot of elbow grease, a lot of hard work and of course good things require work. But it's because we depend so much on agriculture in our state 1 out of 5 jobs does depend on agriculture. This is important to get right," says Baucus.

Former Senator Baucus participated in work days where he tried the jobs of Montana's farmers in order to collect data and gain more understanding to help put together a Farm Bill that fit the needs of Montanans.
