John Walsh Sworn into U.S. Senate

Posted: Updated:

The appointment that many had waited for once it was announced that Senator Max Baucus would be Ambassador to China, John Walsh is now known as Senator Walsh after officially being sworn in as our second Senator this morning.

The oath was given today by U.S. Vice President Joe Biden in the Senate Chamber.

The former Lieutenant Governor will be serving as a replacement for Max Baucus, who was appointed by President Barack Obama to be the U.S. Ambassador to China. The Senate confirmed his nomination for Ambassadorship last week, opening the way for Governor Bullock to appoint Walsh.

Walsh announced his candidacy for the 2014 election where he is likely to face Republican Representative Steve Daines in the election for the open seat.
