Soldier Surprises Sons at Billings School

Posted: Updated:

You have seen the YouTube videos of military coming home to their loved ones, and the emotion that follows. This week, that real-life movie played out here in Montana. Two sons were surprised by their father at a local school, and reporter Katie Chen has the story.

Herbert Aguilar returned home from Afghanistan two months earlier than expected.  He hasn't seen his sons for six months. He says it's hard being away from family, but what gets him through are the little things.

"Technology nowadays, I was able to Facetime with them from over there. I was able to write letters. They wrote me letters. and we wrote back and forth a little bit," says Aguilar.

Newman Elementary teachers played a word game on iPads with the boys, Matthew and Andrew, and Aguilar came in behind them for the surprise.

"I'm happy to be with my boys, couldn't be happier today"
