Brother Felons Found In Kalispell

Posted: Updated:
KALISPELL -

Two brothers, and wanted felons, are sitting in the Flathead County Detention Center after a long manhunt Wednesday.

Kalispell police, the Flathead Sheriff's Department, and even Border Patrol helped find these two men, who are wanted in Flathead and Silver Bow counties.

For several hours yesterday, authorities were combing through the streets looking for Samuel and Lucas Hundley.

A bail bondsman had called the police department saying they might be hiding out with their mom or their younger brother who live in Kalispell.

Police found 25-year-old Samuel Hundley pretty quickly.

He's wanted for violating his probation in Flathead county, for a total bond of $115,000.

Lucas Hundley, 27, was a different story.

A warrant for his arrest was issued by Butte-Silver Bow law enforcement yesterday. He is wanted for allegedly hitting and killing a pedestrian while driving drunk back in October.

His bond is set at $50,000.

"When warrants are that big, they're of a significant nature and these are people we need to find," said Steve Hoover, a patrolman with the Kalispell Police Department.

Police say Lucas Hundley jumped from a second story window and ran several blocks.

Canines with the Border Patrol found him hiding in a dog kennel in a garage. When he was finally caught, Lucas gave in, but the search took more than two hours.

"There's probably 30, 40 cop cars all together, people everywhere. They came into our house, looking for people. Yeah, I mean it got really crazy last night," said Frank Anderson, a neighbor who lives near the mother of the two men who saw some of the manhunt.

Even though the brothers were trying to hide out with family, no aiding and abetting charges are being considered.

"When the mother was contacted, she was actually contacted by a neighbor who said 'hey, the police are looking for your boys,' and she told her sons, 'if the police show up here, I'm not going to lie for you, I'm going to turn you in,'" said Hoover.

"She was real upset, but she told them 'get the heck out of here' and 'you guys need to go,'" said Anderson.

Police say Lucas and Samuel's younger brother was cooperative and let his home be searched too.

Samuel Hundley was in Flathead County Justice Court Thursday, and his next court appearance is planned for March 20.

He could spend up to ten years in the Montana State Prison for bail jumping.

Lucas Hundley still has to be seen in Justice Court before he can be taken back to Silver Bow county.
