CMR Names Gary Lowry New Head Football Coach

When Jack Johnson stepped down as CMR's head football coach in December, he endorsed long-time assistant Gary Lowry to be his successor. Looks like Johnson was spot on.

Lowry has officially been recommended, and upon Board approval, will be named the Rustlers new head football coach. The Great Falls Public Schools faxed out the announcement on Friday, just four days after the application process closed, and weeks before GFPS's Athletic Director Gary Degooyer initially believed the final decision would be made.

For years, Lowry served on Johnson's staff. Now, he'll take over for the winningest football coach in Montana prep history, who said he believed the job should go to a CMR guy.

When KFBB talked to Degooyer earlier in the week, he said they would not be releasing the names of the applicants. Former Simms head coach Joe O'Brien confirmed he applied for the job a few weeks ago, and told KFBB earlier on Friday that he was informed he had not been selected.

    One woman is dead after being shot by Sandpoint Police officers Tuesday night at Bonner General Hospital.The Bonner County Sheriff's Office is handling the multi-agency investigation and according to Sheriff Daryl Wheeler, Sandpoint Police officers were called to the area of 3rd and Alder in front of Bonner General Hospital Tuesday night for a report of a woman who was armed with a knife.
