Carroll in Exploratory Talks After Receiving GNAC Letter

Posted: Updated:

A few weeks after adding two new sports, could Carroll College be a possible addition to a new conference... in the NCAA?

Saints Athletic Director Bruce Parker says the school has received a 'letter of encouragement' from the commissioner of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, an NCAA Div II league, and is in the 'exploratory phase in collecting and reviewing information both internally and externally to help better evaluate where they belong.'

Below is Parker's full comments on the matter in a statement released by the university:

"Carroll College is constantly evaluating what is best for our institution in all regards — academically, athletically and beyond.  In regards to athletics, we have received letter of encouragement and support from the commissioner of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.  We are in the exploratory phase in collecting and reviewing information both internally and externally to help better evaluate where we belong.  Carroll College is exercising its due diligence in all facets of this process.  We feel that the GNAC boasts an exemplary collection of schools and are flattered by their interest in our institution. At this time we are purely interested in taking time to examine how our affiliations align with our strategic plans," Carroll College Director of Athletics Bruce Parker said.

Carroll's Athletics Department said the school has not applied to the NCAA for membership. KFBB will of course, continue to follow this story as it develops.
