February 13, 2014 Commission Meeting Summary:

• Approved budget and agency priorities as presented by staff.

• Approved initiating the rule making process, as proposed in a petition from the Whitefish City Council, to amend limiting the Whitefish River to electric motors or manually powered watercraft from the trestle to the JP Bridge.

• Approved final regulations for a commercial fishing operation on Canyon Ferry Reservoir and Lake Helena for 2014.

• Adopted a final commercial use fee rule for FWP land under the authority of the Commission to include changes recommended by the department.

• Approved, as proposed, Unlocking State Lands Program tax credit administrative rules. The rules provide a means to provide a $500 tax credit to private landowners providing qualified access to state land with a limit of $2,000 per year.

• Approved the purchase of the 2,600 acre Raundal Coulee Conservation Easement for $900,000 from the Habitat Montana program.

• Approved FWP's recommendation to authorize the take of up to 10 peregrine falcons for falconry purposes by residents and one peregrine for falconry purposes by nonresidents during the 2014-15 take period.

• Adopted for public comment the proposed 2014 annual work plan modifications for brucellosis-related elk management tools in the Paradise Valley.

• Adopted a final annual quota range of 200-250 for the take of urban deer by the City of Helena.

• Adopted proposed changes to the general hunting regulations

• Adopted 2014-2015 deer hunting seasons and hunting districts.

• Adopted the 2014-2015 Elk hunting seasons and hunting districts.

• Adopted, as proposed, the 2014-2015 antelope seasons and hunting districts.

• Adopted, as proposed, the 2014-2015 Moose hunting seasons and hunting districts.

• Adopted, as proposed, the 2014-2015 Big Horn Sheep and hunting districts which included ewe season closures, boundary changes, reopening HD 213 with a quota of two legal rams and quota range adjustments.

• Adopted, as proposed, the 2014-2015 Mountain Goat hunting seasons and hunting districts.

• Adopted, as proposed, the 2014-2015 Black Bear hunting seasons and hunting districts.

• Adopted 2014-2015 Mountain Lion seasons and hunting districts in most of the state.

• Adopted, as proposed, the 2014-2015 Bison hunting seasons and hunting districts.

• Adopted, as proposed, the 2014-2015 Upland Game Bird seasons and hunting districts.

• Adopted, as proposed, the 2014-2015 Migratory Bird hunting regulations pending compliance with Federal frameworks.

• Adopted, as proposed, the 2014-2015 Game Damage and Management season quota authorizations.

• Adopted, as proposed, the 2014-2015 hunting season dates.

When detectives located the vehicle the suspect, 19-year-old Issiah Schauman, was not inside so the search for him continues.
