Posted: Updated:

TWIN BRIDGES, Mont. (AP) - Benny Reynolds, the 1961 all-around cowboy champion and a member of the ProRodeo Hall of Fame, has died. He was 77.

The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association says Reynolds died Friday of an apparent heart attack while loading hay at his ranch in Twin Bridges.

He was the association's rookie of the year in 1958. He competed in bareback riding, bull riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding and team roping. He won more than 360 buckles competing for more than four decades.

He stopped competing in riding events after suffering a broken neck in 1993 at age 57.

He continued steer wrestling for several more years and competed in team roping at old-timer rodeos until he was 71.

He's survived by two sons, Rooster and Louis John, and a daughter, Jenny.
