Powerball Lottery at $400 Million Dollars

Posted: Updated:

The jackpot for the Powerball lottery jumped to $70 million dollars after the weekend and is at an estimated 400 million dollars, giving people $400 million reasons to test their luck.

"We've had probably, out of every 5, we get about 3 out of 5 that buy. For the last 2 weeks it's been really climbing," said Shavonna Richardson.

"I'm Antonio Vincent and I just bought a Powerball lottery ticket. I'm tired of being broke. I don't want to be poor any longer. There's too many rich people in this world and I'd like to be one of them."

The chances of actually winning the Powerball as you might have guessed are not in your favor. There is about a 1 in 175 million chance of being the lucky winner but that's not stopping people from planning what they'd do if they win.

"I would actually start an autism foundation here in Montana. My son is 6 years old and he has Autism. I'd like to do something for those people who don't have the right means for help and the right resources so I'd like to fund that for them," said Vincent.

"I'd buy my family all a home, I'd help some charities, I'd put away a lot for college for my daughter, and maybe get a nice truck," said Richardson.

This is the 6th largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history and if there is a winner tonight, that lucky person could take a lump-sum payment of $227.8 million dollars.
