Kalispell Man Found Dead In Great Falls

GREAT FALLS -

A man found dead in Great Falls this week is identified as Graham Macker of the Kalispell area.  Macker was 26. The Cascade County Coroner says an autopsy revealed Macker died of drowning.

Macker was listed as a walk-a-way from the Great Falls Pre-Release Center on
11-14-13 and was wanted for escape.

On 11-14-13 at approx. 6:50 p.m. officers from the Great Falls Police Department encountered Macker in the 1800 Block of River Dr. North.  Officers say Macker ran from officers on foot and headed towards the Rivers Edge Trail.  Deputies from the Cascade County Sheriff's Office were also on scene and assisted with the search for Macker.  

It was suspected that Graham was hiding along the south side of the Missouri River along the River's Edge Trail between the box cars and the 15th St N Bridge in an area heavily covered with foliage.  

GFPD K-9, Deputies from Cascade County, and a Homeland Security Helicopter were used to try and locate Graham without success.  

Sheriffs say at the time of the incident, there were no indications that Graham had gone into the river.  

Due to the fact that the Great Falls Police Department and the Cascade County Sheriff's Office were involved in the attempted apprehension of Macker and he has since been found dead, the State of Montana Department of Criminal Investigation has been requested and has agreed to take over the investigation.
