Lady Argos Inch Closer to Making the Conference Tournament

With its first win at Carroll College since 2000, the University of Great Falls women's basketball program extended its record setting season with a 62-56 win over the Saints. At 16-12 overall, the Lady Argos are the most winningest team in the program's recent history.

The Argos started off slow and trailed by 14 points early in the first half. Great Falls would fight back and cut the lead to five before the break. "We knew we had to come out in the second and keep competing," said UGF head coach Bill Himmelberg.

Great Falls rallied to take the lead late in the second half behind the scoring prowess of league leading scorer Erin Legel, who had a game-high 21 points. A couple of key free throws down the stretch kept Great Falls in the lead and secured the victory. "The girls played really hard and it was a great team effort," continued Himmelberg. "We are playing well right now and we feel good about our play in these last few games."

Frontier conference leading rebounder, Lindsey Abramson, joined Legel in leading the Argos with 17 point and 11 boards.

The Lady Argos will host Rocky Mountain College on Saturday, February 22 in the UGF McLaughlin Center. Great Falls will honor this year's seniors before the 5:30 p.m. start.

Freshman Zach Taylor lead the Saints with 19 points in their Saints 65-61 win over the University of Great Falls. Senior Dennis Mikelonis had 15 while Zayn Kirkendoll chipped in 12. The Argos' Marcel Towns lead all scorers with 24.
