Junior B-C Championships Swim Meet

Posted: Updated:

The Falls Aquatic swim team based out of the Electric City is hosting one of its biggest meets ever. The Junior B-C Championships swim meet is being held at the Swarthout Fieldhouse all day Saturday and Sunday where swimmers are trying to qualify for state events next month in Missoula.

Roughly 280 swimmers from all ages, ranging from 6 years old to high school, from all over the state of Montana are in town to compete. The meet serves as a last chance opportunity to qualify for state events but it also is an opportunity for kids to enjoy the sport of swimming.

Periodically throughout the meet there are award ceremonies where swimmers are given medals and get to stand on a podium to be recognized for their efforts.

But at the end of the day, everyone is a winner and everyone enjoys getting an opportunity to swim.

Mary Keele, a parent and worker of the event said, "it's a lot of fun. I know the kids are super excited. I know my little boy is really excited to come to this meet. We have a lot of kids that are cheering each other on and they're just all enjoying themselves and having fun and trying to make those state times but also trying to remember to have fun because a lot of these kids swim because they love swimming."

The event will continue all day Sunday at the R.W. Bill Swarthout Fieldhouse at Great Falls High School.
