Lady Argos Earn 1st Frontier Conference Playoff Berth in Program's History

The Lady Argos earned their first Frontier Conference playoff berth in school history Saturday night with their 87-75 win over Rocky Mountain College. Coach Himmelberg's club has been playing well of late. They've won 5 of their last 6 games and 3 straight, which is good news for UGF as they seem to be the hottest team heading in to the conference tournament.

As for getting in to the tournament, Himmelberg is proud of his team for their hard work to get here.

"I'm happy for the girls. We keep telling them to trust in us, follow the game plan, things will work out. The people that put in the hard work, it's going to pay off.  It's been an exciting ride.

I told the girls to enjoy the journey as much as anything so it's been a lot of fun. It's nice to see our girls playing so well and we've kind of peaked at the right time having won 5 of our last 6 and we're the hottest team in conference besides Western, we're playing pretty well," said Himmelberg.

UGF will play Saturday at Montana Western at 7pm.

The Lady Argos aren't the only UGF team in the conference tournament. The men upset #10 Rocky Saturday night and finished the year at 17-12 and 8-8 in conference, earning them the #6 seed. The Argos will travel to play the #3 seed MSU-Northern Lights this Friday. UGF lost both games to Northern this year but now that its tournament time the Argos are looking to end the year as conference champions.

"Our goal is to win the thing. I think if you're going in to the tournament - any team - I don't think you should just be satisfied making it. I think you get in and now your expectation should be we got to go one game at a time, it's going to be a tough road and all that kind of stuff.

We'll get prepared this week and get ready for what Northern's going to do. We just have to keep our composure and hopefully good things happen," said head coach, Steve Silsby.

The men will tip Friday in Havre and if they win, they will travel to Billings to take on #1 seed Rocky Mountain College.
