SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. - Detectives with the Spokane County Sheriff's Department have confirmed that a gun found last month by an elementary school student is the same one that was used to kill 53-year-old Harry Giesbrecht on January 4th, 2014.

The gun was found on the morning of January 23rd next to the road by a student heading to the bus stop. Deputies say the child picked up the loaded gun, brought it to the bus stop and threw it on the ground. A parent waiting at the bus stop saw this picked up the weapon.

During the homicide investigation, Giesbrecht's brother found a shell casing in his brother's yard. The gun, casing and a bullet were sent to the Washington State Crime Lab for testing. On Wednesday, the Sheriff's Department said results of the testing confirmed the gun was used in the murder of Giesbrecht.

62-year-old Richard Klepacki has been arrested for the murder of Giesbrecht. Klepacki's next court appearance is scheduled for March 17th, 2014.
