General Motors Expands Vehicle Recall

Posted: Updated:

General Motors issued a public apology for responding too late to an ignition switch problem with their vehicles that has been linked to at least 31 accidents and 13 deaths.

GM has expanded their recall of certain vehicles made from 2003-2007 to more than 1.6 million.

The auto-maker had reportedly known about the ignition problem since 2004 and their delayed response to address the issue could cost them millions of dollars in civil penalties from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

As for now, GM is notifying vehicles in the recall to bring their car into a dealership to have the ignition switch replaced at no charge.
