Propane exhaust from a boiler made a number of inmates and guards sick, three of which have been treated and released from the hospital.

Yesterday inmates reported an foul odor from this weekend. That's when detention officers found several inmates suffering from headaches, nausea and burning eyes.

The inmates were evacuated to the jail library, and medical was called to the scene.

When the exhaust leak was discovered, the boiler was shut down, and the area was ventilated. After carbon monoxide levels were checked, the inmates were able to return to their block.

The cause of the leak is still under investigation.
