Cats' Jackie Elliott Finds Time to Give Back to the Community

Posted: Updated:

Bobcat forward Jackie Elliott puts others first. She spends her time at the Bozeman Boys and Girls club, Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter, and Down Syndrome Research education advocacy. That's why she was the 2012 Montana Athlete Service Award Recipient.

"I've done Special Olympics now for five years in a row, and it's just so great to see the kids have so much fun something they love to do," said Jackie Elliott.

"She's a great kid. A perfect example of being selfless and caring more about others, and giving back to others," said head coach Tricia Binford.

The junior does community service because as her Coach put it best:

"I think she's a great person because she wants to do those things. That's what makes her special there's a lot of joy of giving back to others and that's just who she is," said Binford.

"Different little things that our coaches tell us about. Like oh this person needs help this weekend and I won't even put it down for community service but it's just great to get to know people in the community and to get women's basketball out there and I think the community really appreciates it," said Elliott.

Elliott is from Billings, but her home now is Bozeman. She loves being part of the Gallatin Valley.

"I do a lot of community service in Bozeman because they do a great job in having me live here I mean it's my new town  it's my new home and I just want to give back to what they've given me," said Elliott.

Elliott says after she graduates from MSU, she will continue to give back.

"Most definitely will continue to do community service it's just a great way to use my time I'm definitely a people person I don't know if you can tell or not but I am. It's just great to give back for what my community has given me," said Elliott.
