Montana State University Receives Record Donation

Posted: Updated:

Montana State University just received a donation of $50 million to their College of Engineering from a man who graduated over fifty years ago.  Norm Asbjornson announced the donation on Monday morning in Bozeman.

The Winifred native's money will be put toward a laboratory and classroom facility, which will be called the Norm Asbjornson Innovation Center.  MSU officials hope to start building in two years.

Asbjornson graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1960.  In the 1980's, he founded AAON, Inc., which manufactures industrial heating, ventilation and air conditioning units.  The company had an annual revenue of over $300 million last year.

University officials say the donation is the largest private gift in the history of Montana.
