Senior Standout Jacy Thompson Leads by Example

Posted: Updated:

"This year was by far the hardest to sit out and watch. Being that it's my last year and my last chance to play with this team," said Townsend senior point guard Jacy Thompson.

Jacy Thompson is the senior point guard of the Townsend Lady Bulldogs, and this week's senior standout. An MSU Northern commit, knee injuries have robbed her of almost two years of her playing career. But having a best friend and fellow senior on the team in Bailee Dexter has helped her get through it.

"We've kind of been together since we were in third grade," said Thompson. "And I wanted to get back for her, and I promised her during the Manhattan game I would get back, and so that's motivated me."

Jacy missed all but two games in the regular season, and with Townsend now in the postseason, her coach is just happy to have her back.

"It would have been really easy for her to say 'You know I'm done,'" said Townsend head coach Alane Dinsdale. "She's already signed with Northern. She's looking to move on, but I just think she has pride in her own self and pride in this team."

And even if basketball doesn't work out apparently Jacy still has a very promising singing and dancing career.

"We had a pre game dinner out at my house last year, and we found out that Jacy is a very good dancer," joked Dinsdale. "And she killed it on Dance Dance Revolution. So she is the team dance leader."

"We made this stupid video, and it was we lip synced to one of our favorite songs together," said senior guard Bailee Dexter. "And it was just one of those things that we did together to make us happy."

What would make Jacy and company even more happy? A win at divisional's this week in Billings.

ENTIAT, Wash. - A burn out operation is planned for Tuesday morning in an effort to establish a secure line in the bottom of the canyon where the Mills Canyon Fire is burning. Burning material rolling downhill and igniting spot fires on the north side of Swakane Canyon have caused concerns and indicate a vulnerability to a fire escape and repeatedly expose firefighters to very steep terrain and rolling material.
