Lady Griz use Adjustments to Sweep Season Series with Cats

The Lady Griz trailed by 1 point at halftime against their arch rival. A big second half allowed Montana to come away with a "W." What changed? Their mentality.

"The Cats always come out tough play good "D," said Griz Junior Guard Kellie Cole. "I think we came out stronger with the ball and not as many turnovers."

"If you want to win those games somebody has to make those big plays," said Lady Griz head coach Robin Selvig. "It wasn't always pretty and we can't say that we shot 50 percent. But when we needed a big play we seemed to get it."

Coach Binford notes that Montana got a little more physical in the 2nd half.

"I think it was the first or second possession they had 2 "O" boards in a row," said Cats head coach Tricia Binford. "I thought that was the difference. We did a great job in the first half keeping them in check. We addressed it at half time but we just got to put two halves together."

The Lady Griz get the sweep over the Bobcats. But Coach Selvig puts emphasis on trying to sweep every team in the Big Sky.

"I just assume beat Eastern Washington twice and Weber twice," said Selvig. "They all count the same."

"It's not just the cats. It's any team you beat," Said Cole. "It's nice to get a win I think it sets us up well for tournament play and see how well other teams do this weekend."

One of those teams is the Bobcats. MSU needs a win Thursday to keep post season hopes a reality.
