CMR Remembers Student Killed in Car Accident

The teen driver who died in a two-vehicle crash on Vaughn Frontage Road Thursday morning was confirmed by Superintendent Tammy Lacey to be a student at C. M. Russell High School. The Sheriff's Department has identified the victim as 18 year-old Samantha Sipes. Students joined together at school and all wore purple in rembrance of Sipes. A memorial service is being held in her honor today at 2:30 during seventh period in the cafeteria. Friends and her family are expected to be present.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 7:30 a.m. when Sipes lost control of her vehicle and spun out hitting a pickup truck traveling westbound on the highway.

Montana Highway Patrol has not released the name of the victim and says the cause of the crash is not yet known. At the time of the crash, road conditions were very slick.

Emergency crews are still at the scene, and traffic delays are likely as they continue investigating.
