Staples to Close Over 200 Stores

Posted: Updated:
GREAT FALLS -

A few days ago Radio Shack announced they will close several of their chain locations in favor of being an online store. Yesterday Staples said they will also do the same thing. Last quarter Radio Shack stock fell 17% prompting them to close down over one thousand stores, Radio Shack closed 28 stores in Montana. Yesterday Staples announced they will be cutting back cost as well by closing a number of stores a cross the US. Including over 200 stores in west coast alone.

Of the 225 the most as being in California and New York at 214 and 131. The least would be actually in Louisiana and South Dakota with 1, here in Montana only 8 will close. No word yet as to which stores, perhaps the one behind me will be or it might just be safe.

For locals here in Great Falls while they like shopping online most say they prefer going to a physical store.

"I always go for the shopping locally before I go near online it's just better, your grantee the better quality that way," says Kale Ellingson.

"Well I like shopping online, but it's nice to go to an actual store to you know there is people who hopefully know what they are doing. What's right or what's wrong or what could be better you know at the product that your looking at," adds Tina Parsons.

The reason behind the closures is because both Radio Shack and Staples feels they can't compete with Wal-Mart and Target and feels they can better serve folks through their online web site.
