Fire Damages Furniture Store in Wolf Point

Posted: Updated:

A fire destroying a longtime furniture store, that had been a fixture, in Wolf Point on Monday.

Police Chief Jeff Harada says the fire at Gysler Furniture was reported shortly after 2:30 P.M.

He says an employee noticed the fire, and alerted a co-worker and customer who were downstairs.  Both made it out safely, and firefighters ended up knocking down two walls of the 100 year-old building, which covered about a third of a block, to combat the fire.  Harada says fire crews remained at the scene overnight as the building continued to smolder.

A State Fire Marshal is currently investigating the cause of the fire.  No injuries were reported.
