Northern Men and Women Make NAIA National Basketball Tourney

Posted: Updated:

The wait proved to be well worth it for the MSU Northern Men and Women's basketball teams. After losing in the Frontier Conference Tournament, both the Lights and Skylights had to wait until Wednesday night's selection show to see if they received at-large berths to the NAIA National Tournament. Both did.

The Northern Men (23-8) lost in the Frontier Conference Quarterfinals to UGF, but still managed to make the Field of 32, and will play Freed-Hardeman (27-6) in the first round on Thursday at 10:45am in Kansas City. Regular season and conference tournament champ Rocky Mountain and Westminster were the other men's teams from the Frontier Conference to make the tournament.

The Northern Women (21-9) fell to L-C State in overtime in the Frontier Conference Semifinals. The Skylights will face Columbia, MO (26-7) in the first round on Wednesday at 5:45pm in Frankfort, Kentucky. Westminster and L-C State were the other women's teams from the Frontier Conference to make the tournament.
