GREAT FALLS -

The Montana Regional Science Fair brought young scholars to the Great Falls Civic Center with hopes of wowing the judges through science. Over forty-eight high school students and well over fifty middle school students from north-central Montana presented their reports and findings to one-hundred judges all of which are military, retired and current teachers, Montana fish and wildlife rangers, and the sheriffs department. Each student was hoping to be judged to move on to the next round.

"Their judged on creativity, whether they used the scientific method. How their presentation is, their display board gets judged. And then really thoroughness. Do they understand what they did? Do they know what they were looking at and that they have some background information from research to kind of back up what they are looking at,"explains judge, Kerry Vanderkolk.

After the second round of judging is complete, the students with their projects that have been selected as first place winners get to go on to the State Science Fair, which is being held in Missoula next week.
