More people are adding Treasure State to their list of vacation destinations, and bringing lots of cash with them.
Eleven million out-of-staters spent about $3.6B while they were here. Still, that's $300,000,000 more than last year, despite a 16 day federal government shutdown in October.
The Montana Office of Tourism says visitors spent only $3.3B in 2012. They say about a third of the people that travel to Montana are doing so while on vacation since Montana has a lot to offer.
Spokesman Daniel Iverson said "we've got two National Parks and lots of great stuff in between. Lots of state parks, variety of scenery from mountains to plains."
Most people visited Montana between July and September.
