Steve Bullock Works to Keep $2 Million in Food Stamp Benefits

Posted: Updated:
Montana -

Montana appears to be playing the game follow the leader. Our governor is modeling after Connecticut and New York's plan to keep $2 million in food stamp benefits in our state.

In order to keep the current program, Bullock plans to do as the other governors have, and increase home-heating assistance by $24,000.

This increase will comply with the Farm Bill, which raised the amount of energy assistance households need to qualify for additional snap benefits. The recipients of which, must receive at least $20 in energy assistance before qualifying for additional food-stamps. If Governor Bullock's plan goes through, nearly 2,180 people will meet the new threshold.
