GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) - State prosecutors have re-filed negligent homicide and criminal endangerment charges against a north-central Montana man charged with backing over three people with his pickup, killing one.
Reports say 26-year-old Charles Geoffrey Santoro of Kevin (KEE'-vin) was initially charged shortly after the Aug. 19, 2013 collision outside a Sunburst bar that killed 36-year-old Levi Rowell.
The charges were later dismissed to allow for further investigation.
In mid-February, the state re-filed the charges. Prosecutors allege Santoro got angry after an exchange with another patron at the Sunburst Vet's Club Bar, and that a parting comment by Rowell further set him off. Court records say Levi Rowell, his wife Tiffany and Justin Gallup were struck by Santoro's pickup truck after the confrontation moved to the parking lot.
