Havre man arrested after woman's death

Posted: Updated:

HAVRE, Mont. (AP) - A Havre man who was on parole for an arson case has been arrested on suspicion of deliberate homicide after a woman died over the weekend.

Havre police say 25-year-old Jordan Carlson was arrested Sunday night shortly after police responded to a report of a disturbance and found an "unresponsive" woman.

Police say the woman's body was taken to the state crime lab in Missoula for an autopsy. Interim Police Chief Gabe Matosich said he would not release any more information while the investigation was ongoing.

Carlson was committed to the state Corrections Department in November 2009 and ordered to pay $245,000 in restitution after a fire he set on his couch spread to the apartment building.

He spent time at the Montana State Hospital and in prison before being paroled in September 2013.
