Hatfield Pleads Not Guilty to Deliberate Homicide

Posted: Updated:

A man claims innocence on charges of killing his father with a baseball bat.

24-year-old Adam Hatfield appeared in Butte-Silver Bow County Court Thursday morning, and pleaded not guilty to a deliberate homicide charge in the 2008 death of his father, Matt Hatfield.

Hatfield was arrested last month in Hot Springs, South Dakota after new DNA evidence connected Adam to the murder.

Court documents say Adam was living with his father on Roosevelt Road at the time of the incident.

They go on to say, Matt Hatfield was confirmed dead when his skull was found in 2010, and DNA from a baseball bat matched the skull.

Hatfield is being held on a $500,000 bond.

If convicted, he faces to life in prison.
