AAA says the national average is $3.56 per gallon that is the highest since September 11, 2013.
A spokeswoman for the motor club says prices are up primarily due to seasonal factors such as routine refinery maintenance and the switch to summer-blend gasoline as well as rising demand.
Now the good news, AAA predicts gas prices will peak in April possibly around $3.65 per gallon.
The state with the lowest average gas price is Montana at $3.28.
