Gardiner Shooting Confirmed As Murder-Suicide

GARDINER, Mont. (AP) -Park County authorities say a Gardiner man fatally shot a woman he knew beforeshooting himself with the same handgun.

 

Undersheriff ScottHamilton says 63-year-old Steve A. Cole shot 59-year-old Debi J. Roberts twiceThursday afternoon before killing himself with a shot to the head. Hamiltondescribed autopsy reports Monday in the murder-suicide.

 

The sheriff's office saysCole and Roberts were in a relationship several years ago. Roberts calledemergency officials Thursday and said Cole was trying to break into her homeand had already shot at her.

 

Sheriff's deputies andYellowstone National Park rangers found Cole dead at the home and Roberts incritical condition. She later died at the scene.

    ATHOL, Idaho - After a thorough investigation into the fire that closed a portion of Silverwood Theme Park last weekend, investigators with the Timberlake Fire Protection District say it was most likely an improperly discarded cigarette that started the fire.
    ATHOL, Idaho - After a thorough investigation into the fire that closed a portion of Silverwood Theme Park last weekend, investigators with the Timberlake Fire Protection District say it was most likely an improperly discarded cigarette that started the fire. The fire happened on August 24th, around 2:00pm in a restroom at the Boulder Beach Water park. The water park was evacuated while crews worked to put the flames out.
