Missing Man Suspected of Embezzlement

BUTTE -

A Butte man who went missing in February is now being investigated for allegedly embezzling from the union he worked for.

54-year-old James Ryan is accused of embezzling $175,000 from the Sheet Metal Workers International Association in Helena.

The letter to union members says Ryan's credit card receipts for questionable purchases has not been found, cash advances were made to Ryan's union credit card, and union automobiles were sold but the money was never deposited.

The Lewis and Clark County Sheriff is investigating the allegations.

Butte-Silver Bow County Police, who have searched for Ryan near Homestake since he went missing, say Ryan's whereabouts are still unknown at this time.
