KENNEWICK, WA - A Hanford tank farm worker says the Department of Energy isn't showing up to the site like they used to.

A worker exposed to chemical vapors at the tank farms says DOE representatives are typically always at their morning meetings, pre-job briefings and on-site at the tank farms.

He says the DOE representatives watch them "like a hawk."

But he says recently the DOE representatives haven't been around since the reports started coming in of tank farm workers exposed to chemical vapors.

He says he doesn't know why there are no representatives there, but it frustrates him and causes him to question their commitment to the workers.

Another tank farm worker says he saw a DOE representative at a morning meeting Wednesday, but it was the first time, in a long time, since he'd seen one.

He says the DOE representative did not respond to questions about why workers exposed to chemical vapors were sent back to work right away following medical evaluations.

The worker says as a long-time Hanford worker, he no longer believes that WRPS takes his well-being seriously.

He says they care about production, progress and profits, not people anymore.
