Tinseltown lost one of its brightest stars over the weekend.

Mickey Rooney, whose career spanned the history of Hollywood itself, passed away Sunday at the age of 93. From Vaudeville to silent films and "talkies," to television and Broadway, Rooney was a tireless show business staple, who even had three films in the works at the time of his death.

Jennifer Lopez is well on her way to mogul-dom.

The singer/actor/idol judge is expanding her media empire with the newly acquired "Fuse" music network, beating out her ex, P-Diddy, with a winning bid of $226 million dollars.

George Strait was the big winner in Las Vegas over the weekend, taking home the top prize of "Entertainer of the Year" at the Academy of Country Music Awards, Sunday night. Idol judge Keith Urban snagged three statues of his own, tying country cutie Miranda Lambert for the evening's most honors.

Simon Cowell has broken into the Guinness Book of World Records.

The tycoon's "Got Talent" franchise has been named the world's most successful reality TV format, having been adapted for air in 58 countries around the globe.

And box office champ, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," broke records of its own over the weekend, becoming the highest-grossing April debut with a take of more than $96 million dollars.

"Noah" sank to second place with $17 million, and "Divergent" rounded out the top three with $13 million dollars.

And that's your entertainment update!

ENTIAT, Wash. - A burn out operation is planned for Tuesday morning in an effort to establish a secure line in the bottom of the canyon where the Mills Canyon Fire is burning. Burning material rolling downhill and igniting spot fires on the north side of Swakane Canyon have caused concerns and indicate a vulnerability to a fire escape and repeatedly expose firefighters to very steep terrain and rolling material.
