Man Who Prompted 21-Hour Standoff Identified

GREAT FALLS, MT - We now know the identity of theman who was responsible for a day long standoff with police in downtown Havre.

The Fergus County Coronersays 25- year old Robert Jay Thomas II of Cut Bank died Monday night at NorthernMontana hospital in Havre from an apparent self inflicted gunshot.

The standoff lasted approximatelytwenty-one hours in downtown Havre. Police say the standoff began after atraffic stop gone wrong. That's when Thomas got out of his car, ran away frompolice and then barricaded himself.
