Darby Man Accused Of Threatening President Released

Posted: Updated:
DARBY -

A Ravalli County man charged with threatening the president and the first family is released from custody. Federal court documents show a judge signed release papers Thursday, for 43-year-old Dan Rachell of Darby.

Terms for his release include staying 1,500 feet from his former employer, Valley Veteran Services, and all of its employees. He will also remain on house arrest.

He was arrested after a fellow veteran reported threats Rachell made over the last six months against the president, first family, and secret service. The veteran said Rachell claimed to have spots set up around Hamilton to ambush the president should he visit.

Rachell was also investigated for similar threats back in 2011.
