Great Falls Local Speaks at Smithsonian in Washington D.C.

Posted: Updated:

The executive director of the History Museum in Great Falls spoke at the Smithsonian's Air and Space Museum Monday as part of the museum's Mutual Concerns Conference.

Great Falls local Jim Meinert helped to share the story of the 7th Ferrying Group and the role it played in U.S. military history, according to the conference's event agenda.

The 7th Ferrying Group, based out of Great Falls, was responsible for getting planes and supplies to the Soviet Union during World War II as part of the Lend-Lease Air Program. Many of the groups records are stored at the History Museum.

According to the agenda, Meinert was part of a panel that included representatives from the BRAVO 369 Foundation which recreated the original flight patterns for a documentary on the Lend-Lease Air Program.
