Brian Fish Looking to take Program in New Direction

Posted: Updated:

Usually when a coach comes in to turnaround a program, the cubbard is pretty bare. But new Montana State Men's head basketball coach Brian Fish likes what he sees from his team so far.

Fish says NCAA rules allows programs to hold practices through April 15th. He's had a chance to watch his guys go at it a couple times and says the cats shoot the ball well. Fish takes over an MSU program that had only one winning season in 8 years under Brad Huse, including a 14-17 finish a season ago.

"So far they've been really good, the energy has been really great, they've been attentive but with school ending so quickly, we're just trying to lay a little bit of a foundation," says new head coach Brian Fish. "If we add the right 2-3 recruits that we have scholarships, then I think we've got a chance to build a team and do what we want to do."

Once he and his staff implement their system and add a few more pieces through recruiting, Fish feels his new team will be headed in the right direction.
