Hotels Continue To Build In Bozeman

Posted: Updated:
BOZEMAN -

The city of Bozeman could see up to five new hotels by 2015.

The Comfort Suites in Bozeman is one of three new hotels built off Valley Center in the past year.

"Since then we have been growing and developing," said Benno Garwood, Comfort Suites General Manager.

He said seeing more hotels built in the area is a positive indicator for his business' growth.

"A lot of people know there's hotels on 7th and 19th Avenues," said Garwood. "As this area develops, it will bring more people off the interstate."

Bozeman Chamber of Commerce President, Daryl Schliem said the city has seen a 13% growth in room numbers.

"We've seen about 44% increase in the Yellowstone country which is mainly Gallatin County region and Bozeman leads the way with about 45% increase," said Schliem.

But with growth, comes some challenges.

"Bringing new markets here which would be airlines flying more people here, more drive thru traffic from the surrounding states and hopefully a new convention center," said Schliem.

Schliem said the city is working to stay competitive with not only the big cities in Montana, but the entire country.

"We have motion put into place to raise that to $2 that would now give us about a million budget in Bozeman," said Schliem. "We are looking at the rest of the United States and even internationally."

Schliem predicts that there will be another 338 hotel rooms in downtown in the next couple years.

KHQ.COM - Mid August is about the time that we start to see spiders come into our homes, particularly the hobo spider. August and September is mating season for the hobo and that means you may be seeing more funnel-like webs in and around your home. Males are on a mission to find a female which is why they are a lot more active at this time.
