Folks joined the united way for a major park cleaning effort, that spanned the entire city of Great Falls.
"Basically 10 parks all across the city we try to focus our parks on parks are in low income neighborhoods and schools. but we were cleaning up Roads parks, park, Sunnyside park, Valleyview park, Lyons park, Charles Russell park, so we basically got about 10 different parks all all across the city," explains Kim Skornogoski, Cascade County United Way.
The well known volunteer group came up with the idea to do park cleaning as it would be all inclusive for every member of the family.
"yeah so basically the united way as part of national volunteer month. we're looking for a healthy activity that people can do so volunteering itself is healthy. beyond that by cleaning up parks we are giving families a clean and safe place to play," says Skornogoski.
Across town other groups are also getting in on the spring cleaning, today around 100 volunteers were sent out in groups with representatives from businesses like target all the way to maelstrom air force base.
"Basically just come out clean the parks in the community, pick up stuff like broken glass and everything, give the kids a safe and clean place to play," adds Brandon Breaux.
For the rest of April folks are encouraged to get out and get volunteering.
