Frisbee Golf Course is Looking to Upgrade

Posted: Updated:
GREAT FALLS - Of course you have heard of golf, but have you heard of frisbee golf? Well one local group is working on bringing a professional course to Great Falls.

"It's very laid back, it's one of those things where you can either be competitive or you can just go out for fun," says  frisbee golf player, Cody Hovde.

Cody Hovde has been playing frisbee golf since he was a teenager.

"Just activities to do around here, it's something that was inexpensive as a High Schooler. So all you got to do is get a $10  frisbee golf disc, go out and play," adds Hovde.

His passion for the sport has gone "the distance" since then to where he finds time in his day to get out to a local course and even help keep the park garbage free.

"It's a great thing where I work during the day and have a break in the middle before my night shift, I could go out and throw a round. The thing I love most is when you release the disc and you throw it on a drive, you just throw it on a hill top and it goes for 100-150 feet and it just, for something throwing like that and just being a part of what the city has to offer to you and using the parks," explains Hovde.

The Great Falls Disc Golf Association wants to turn Warden Park into a full professional 18 hole  frisbee golf course to bring in some out of state competition, but in order to do so they are looking for local businesses to sponsor the new holes.

"Yes, we want to turn warden into an 18 hole we don't have a 18 hole here currently in Great Falls we have a 9 hole on West Bank Park. this is a 10 hole, but we are hoping to get it into an 18 so we can pull some tournaments in here, some league play, " says League Liaison, Gavin Sundquist.

For an avid frisbee golf player like Hovde, creating an 18 hole park is a hole-in-one of an idea.

"It's great to be able to have something that you can enjoy outside," says Hovde.

If you would like to help the club make their goal you can get in contact with the Great Falls Disc Golf Association through their Facebook page.
