GREAT FALLS - It is that time of the year again, folks were excited to get outside today and run in the Great Falls Ice Breaker race this year. Though the number of people in the race is less than last year, Joe Biega caught up with a few folks who were more than ready to run for fun. Ready set go, the Great Falls Ice Breaker day is finally here, volunteers and and runners are ready.

"Well today were just gearing up you can see in the convention center there is lots of people checking in and getting ready to go, so the entire course is ready our crews are out there ready to go our volunteers are ready to head out there to their positions. registration is fairly brisk we're waiting to see what our final numbers are, we're not going to be quite as good as last year, but we're going to have great numbers so," says Patti Rearden.

Logan Ray came here all the way from Lincoln Montana to fun in his first ever Ice Breaker.

"It's my first time and I'm doing it with my best friend Conner and my science teacher so," says Ray.

Running the 3 mile today with his friend Connor, Ray has a game plan for this race through Great Falls.

"Just have a good pace, until the last leg and then just try to get ahead of people," says Ray.

And coming to run today all the way from Colorado is expert runner Roberto Mandje who is excited to be getting a chance to run in the electric city.

"The elevation is a bit lower so that will be nice, but the weather and the wind is all the same so yeah get to see a bit of Great Falls," explains Mandje.

This years race saw some new 1st place finishers and some familiar faces from last year, due to a slight injury Mandje finished in 7th place in the 5 mile run.

"Pretty much ran the rest of the race with one leg. So disappointing but that happens maybe I'll come back next year and look for redemption," says Mandje.

This years ice breaker had close to 35 hundred people come out to run in the Ice Breaker, a little less that last years over 40 hundred runners.
