    SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. - Latanya Clara Chapin, 51, has been identified as the woman who was found dead in the trunk of a car last Friday. Chapin was originally reported missing in March. The man accused of killing her is Juan Sifuentez and he made his first court appearance Monday afternoon. Sifuentez is being charged with 2nd Degree Murder and held on a $750,000 bond.
    SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. - Latanya Clara Chapin, 51, has been identified as the woman who was found dead in the trunk of a car last Friday. Chapin was originally reported missing in March. The man accused of killing her is Juan Sifuentez and he made his first court appearance Monday afternoon. Sifuentez is being charged with 2nd Degree Murder and held on a $750,000 bond.

New court documents released on Monday detail a gruesome murder cover up on Spokane's lower South Hill.

51-year-old Latanya Chapin's body was discovered in the back of her own car last week. Court documents suggest she may have been dead for more than a month. According to detectives Chapin had not been heard from since late February. Chapin's sister contacted police in early March worried about Chapin and fearful that Colby and Sifuentez had harmed her.

Detectives say 29-year-old Rachael Colby and her boyfriend Edward Juan Sifuentez went to great lengths to hide the dead body of Colby. According to an informant interviewed by detectives, he told them he was contacted by Sifuentez and Colby to help dispose of a body. The informant told police Colby and Sifuentez came to his house and said they have a body in the back of the Ford Probe they were driving and they wanted his help getting rid of it. The informant later refused. Detectives say Colby and Sifuentez ditched the car on the street.

According to court documents, detectives later located the car and observed what seemed to be a human hand inside of the car. Detectives impounded the car and later found the body of Chapin inside. Detectives interviewed Colby the next day and according to court documents, she told police Sifuentez murdered her mother. Colby said Sifuentez called her for help to clean up after he used a baseball bat to kill Latanya Chapin. Colby told detectives she helped clean up blood and helped load the body in the back of the car. Colby also told detectives that she and Sifuentez accessed Chapin's bank accounts after her death to buy some items online and sell them at a kiosk at the Spokane Valley Mall.

Detectives also interviewed Sifuentez. He told them Colby killed her mother by stabbing and hitting her. He also told detectives he helped Colby clean up the evidence and wrapped Chapin's body in sheets and plastic but that he did not kill her. Sifuentez is in the Spokane County Jail under $750,000 bond. Colby is also in jail facing several charges.
