You May Want to Wait to Plant That Garden

Posted: Updated:

It looks like spring has sprung here in the electric city and while you may want to get started in the garden, florist say you may want to wait a few weeks before you start planting. With the cold weather seemingly behind us now most folks might want to spend the first weekend in may planting their new flower gardens. However mother nature can be unpredictable and we are not that far from winter that the ground can still freeze. Experts say you should wait a week before you plant.

"Just the beginning of may and we can still have those cold deep freezes the possibility till toward the end of May. So if your planting plant them in pots that you can possibly bring in to either the garage or for those nights," says Florist Julie Stover.

If your looking to start a vegetable garden this year, folks can start planting tomato plants as long as they have covers to protect them in case of any frost filled morning that may arise in the beginning of may.
