Basta Announces Retirement

GREAT FALLS - Thirty-five years is considered a long time for many things, and serving a city is no exception, and after thirty-five years, one city employee has decided to call it a career.

The city of Great Falls announcing that Parks and Recreation Director Marty Basta has announced that he will retire.
Basta started his career with the city of Great Falls in 1979, as a heavy equipment operator in the public works department making "just over $7 an hour!"

For the past six years, he has been the Parks and Recreation Director. However prior to his current position he held a number of other jobs with the city including Operations Manager for Public Works, Streets and Sanitation Supervisor and Assistant Streets Supervisor as well as a truck driver for Public Works.
Basta's last day of work will be May the 16th, which also happens to be his 60th birthday.
